Joseph J. Vealencis is a Principal at Potomac Advocates, a premier defense, intelligence, space, science and technology research and consulting firm based in Washington, D.C.

Joe has more than 23 years of government and leadership experience. Prior to joining Potomac Advocates, he served as the Chief of Staff at Ball Aerospace, a leading aerospace, science, and defense company with revenues of over $2 billion/year. Joe served as strategic advisor to the President and the Executive Team in their management of the company’s daily operations and execution of its strategic plan.

Prior to joining Ball Aerospace in 2017, Joe worked in the Intelligence Community in multiple legislative, public affairs, and leadership roles. He provided strategic counsel and engagement strategies for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s (ODNI) Office of Legislative Affairs. He led the National Counterterrorism Center’s Office of Strategic Communications and served as the Director of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs at the once secretive National Reconnaissance Office.

From 2005 to 2010, Joe served in various positions with the House Committee on Homeland Security, including acting Deputy Staff Director for the Committee.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and his Master of Science from the National Defense Intelligence College.  He also currently serves as the President of Board of Directors for the National Space Club and Foundation, a 501(c)(3) committed to advancing STEM education opportunities for the nation’s youth.
